Goat Farmer Records was founded by Joel Ziegenmier, who comes to Nashville by way of Appalachia. Joel grew up playing trumpet, and caught the recording bug through an experience with one of his bands.
In 2005, Joel earned a Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry Production and Technology from MTSU, with a minor in Entrepreneurship – just in time to do some serious rethinking about new ways to work in the music industry.
Joel’s related experiences include on-air work at WMOT Jazz 89, audio equipment maintenance at MTSU, production interning at WPLN 90.3 Nashville Public Radio, audio tech work at a professional Nashville studio, live sound, and independently engineering/producing. His day gigs have included electrical work, fire recovery, and cooking at the Waffle House, so he can pretty much handle anything you throw at him.
